Salé Basket Co.

Palm-leaf & raffia basketry · Salé, Rabat-Salé-Kénitra

4.6(5)

Amina Cherkaoui started Salé Basket Co. as a way to keep the palm-leaf weaving her aunts taught her from disappearing as younger weavers moved to factory work. She now coordinates a rotating group of six weavers across Salé, dyeing raffia with natural pigments and weaving palm fronds into market baskets, totes, and homeware that hold up to daily use, not just display.

Each piece lists the weave pattern and whether the raffia is naturally dyed or left in its raw straw color.
